Can someone explain what this Sweet Baby stuff is in the gaming community?

I am a bit lost. Out of nowhere everyone in my online circles started talking about it and I am a bit confused as to what is going on. I don't want to ask and look dumb lol Does anyone here know what it is and can you explain it to me?

Do you know or remember gamer gate? This kind of stems from that. Basically Sweet Baby is a company that dev companies hire to make sure they are being inclusive enough and non-offensive. One of the founders is a black woman that proclaims the gaming industry is abusive, sexist, and racist and her "company" is seeking to fix it.

People found out they were making dialog dumber, female characters uglier and more manly, white male characters useless, and the list goes on and on so now there is outrage over it.

I honestly don't care. I just want gaming to be less political. Politics is ruining everything. 😩

It is a company for DEI points. That is about it. If you are not familiar with DEI and ESG, it is part of some global initiative to make the world a "better place". I just see companies losing money because of it.

I have no idea what any of this stuff is. I am almost entirely out of the loop but I see tons of YouTubers complaining about it ruining video games. Wild times we live in I suppose!

It sounds like what he mentions in the video, a bunch of people that couldn't cut it being devs decided to make up some business model that is backfiring big time. I guess several of the people involved have blackmailed and doxxed people too.

I was going to say this. Did you see the creator of Dragon Ball died and the woman that is in charge of sweet baby used it as an opportunity to claim he was some sort of racist? I am just so tired of these activists getting involved in every aspect of our lives.

It is a small group of activists that want to make games for other activists while being in complete denial about the reality that they are marketing and making games that next to no one is asking for, maybe like 3% of gamers out there... It is all insane nonsense. If I find out a game has high levels of ESG in it, I just simply won't play it. I am all for diversity but not at the expense of story or player experience.

That is dirty. I didn't hear about this but wow, you really have to be a special kind of someone to say something like this the day someone was announced as having passed away. That man is an icon and a hero to many. Shame on her.
