Does anyone still watch the Oscars in 2024?

I know some people do, or otherwise they wouldn't bother doing these shows anymore. I just wonder. I never watched it or any of these awards shows cause it is just people celebrating themselves. I guess I never cared deeply enough about the lives of the rich and famous. Last I heard these awards shows are pretty much just political nonsense now anyways. A family friend I had that watched it every years told me this, she stopped watching in 2017.

It is on tonight, which is why I am wondering.

I watch clips if I hear anything interesting happened. From what I heard, it was not very political at all. It was almost dry and safe. I think the most risky thing they did was having John Cena come out naked to announce an award... which was a strange choice.

I don't care about it. I stopped taking it seriously years ago. They award the dumbest movies and the dumbest roles. I noticed this like 10 years ago, it has probably gotten way worse since. I think it has been sized down too.

Not me, I have never had any interest in awards shows. I never really had much interest in celebrities. I feel like for average normies, it is just something to connect with people over. I would rather connect with people over hobbies.

I heard different. Maybe it was just toned way down with the politics compared to the last few? Jimmy Kimmel can't help himself though. He makes everything political trying to score cheap laughs lol

Awards shows were never for me. I can't tell you a single one I remember watching, even the kids ones. It just never appealed to me. I guess this is more for people that are invested into the people behind the products. Like I enjoy gaming a lot but don't even care about those awards either.

I watched it with my mom as a kid. I don't even remember why. I don't know what about it was appealing to me as a 10 year old boy. Maybe it was more glamorous back then?

My mother watches it every year and complains about how bad it is and talks about it to me as if I watch it and I never have. I think she confuses me with my sister half the time in terms of who has interests in what lol
