I'm in the market for an RC boat but aiming for a more budget-friendly option by skipping the Ready-to-Run (RTR) models. I'm looking for something without electronics and preferably with self-righting capabilities.

Consider getting the bare hull of a Feilun FT012 (and similar boats in the series). The hull, tube, rudder, and motor mount/coupler are reasonably priced. Most boats utilize the motor's stator's centrifugal force for self-righting, so ensure you have a decent-sized motor for that. Alternatively, some boats have a chamber that floods on one side for flipping back over, but this requires good water-tightness to prevent electronics corrosion.Comment

For an affordable and fun option, you might want to consider the Feilun FT012, which is usually priced between $70 to $80. It provides good value for the money.Comment
