"Micro-Shops" being put in games AFTER reviews have been finalized

This is a trend I only recently noticed but it had been going on for awhile it seems. More and more companies are releasing games like Teken where the game functions as what you would expect for the first month or two after the release but then they sneak in an update that adds in a shop for micro-transactions which makes a lot of people man including myself. I am not going to buy a AAA title that is nagging me to buy more stuff. No thanks!

Has anyone else noticed this? What are your thoughts on it?

I noticed this because I always read reviews for games, even ones I don't play. I like to see the meta-critic scores. What happened was games would release WITH these shops and it would hurt the ratings and scores so they stopped and put them in the game after the fact. It is all very shady.

How can they do this and not think anything of it?

I expect these sorts of things in games that are free or non-AAA titles but to be putting them in nearly 100 dollar games!? WTH man! I am glad that I basically just narrowed down what I like and I avoid most modern gaming. There is some good stuff out there but I will never pay full price for a AAA title ever again. I am more than happy to wait for the price to drop.

This is a really crappy trend that more companies are taking part in. It is shady. It is like updating games to remove stuff after you bought it. Like what is to stop them from removing major parts of games in the future and ruining them for us? I don't like the live service era of gaming. I should be able to opt in or out of updates and choose what I want to be left alone.

I didn't know this was a thing they were doing. This will not end well. I already don't buy as many games as it is. They are going to make me go full adult and give them up if they keep ruining things for us players.

Neither did I! This sounds bloody awful though, my god.

It really does sound like a bunch of greedy people got invested in video games and are using it to make money, not to make actual fun experiences.

I remember people complaining about the transactions and now the fact that they are designing games to have store fronts in them is just ridiculous! I would hope this trend dies off seeing how many people are complaining about it.

This seems like a very scammy thing to do. I can see why they do it, because they will get hit with negative reviews. As they should. Nothing wrong with having options for people to buy stuff but I feel like it should be a minor thing in games and you shouldn't be pressured or annoyed to spend money.

Money, that's how. The gaming industry has gone from prioritizing player experience to prioritizing money. Plenty of games are still good but most companies will look for any excuse to try and milk money out of people. No joke.

When this is done, I have to question the integrity of the development company. Knowing they are preplanning this and basically ensuring they get people's money before they upset them, it is just a very shady thing to do. I will not buy games from devs that do this.

Greed seems to be ruining things more and more these days, that is for sure. Everything is about profit margins and creativity comes second unless you count really strange modern movies. I don't know what they are thinking cause they end up losing money.
